Dwarves are a race of short humanoids often conjectured to exist in fantasy entertainment. They are found in mythical stories or books, such as Eragon, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia and Norse and Germanic mythology. They are also found in role playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons. They are short, usually bearded and appear to be very old. Dwarves are known for their metal working and mining.

Dwarves have also appeared in feature films, the most famous of which is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, a children's animation from Walt Disney.
