Emory is an East Texas city.
The county seat of Rains County, it is one of the (geographically) smallest counties in the state. The city and surrounding county are both named after Emory Rains, a local legislator instrumental in creating the state's Homestead Law, one of the most homeowner-friendly statutes of its kind in the United States.
Although the city is small, it is centrally located between two of Texas' most popular lakes: Lake Tawakoni to its west and Lake Fork Reservoir to its east.
