The Toronto Star mistakenly claims that Ayn Rand was conservative and that Tom Flanagan is a social conservative.
Astute political readers will immediately recognize those errors:
- Ayn Rand was an atheist whose philosophy most closely resembled libertarianism.
- Tom Flanagan is affiliated with a libertarian group in Canada, which suggests that he is not a social conservative. He has said little or nothing about abortion, same-sex marriage, or prayer in school in recent years.
The newspaper article is wrong in basing its criticism of Conservapedia on its premise that Ayn Rand was conservative and that Tom Flanagan is a social conservative. The article misleads readers into thinking that social conservatives are somehow critical of Conservapedia.
