Lilith is the Sumerian fertility goddess considered to be a demon or succubus in Jewish Mythology. She was a goddess of agriculture, motherhood and fertility for both men and women. Often refered to as Lilitu or Lilit and frequently believed to also have been a wind goddess.
In the ben Sira version of the Bible Lilith is the first wife of Adam (before Eve) and she is leaves Eden in a metaphorical version of divorce. In Greek legend Lilith is the goddess of the black moon (or the new moon), not to be confused with Artemis the goddess of the full moon or Hecate the goddess of the crescent moon.
