Richard S. Lindzen (born February 8, 1940) is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a vocal critic of anthropogenic global warming theories. ^[1]

Richard Lindzen is currently a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Science and Economic Advisory Council of the Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy. He previously held positions at the University of Chicago and Harvard University, and was a contributer to Chapter 4 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2001(IPCC)^[2]

-It should be noted for the interest of full disclosure that Lindzen charged "oil and coal interests $2,500 a day for his consulting services; [and] his 1991 trip to testify before a Senate committee was paid for by Western Fuels and a speech he wrote, entitled 'Global Warming: the Origin and Nature of Alleged Scientific Consensus,' was underwritten by OPEC." Obviously OPEC and the oil and coal industry have a vested self interest in keeping scientists like Lindzen around to try and disprove the good unbiased science that is being done on the issue.
