An illegal drug is a recreational drug that the United States has determined to be harmful and has thus made illegal. Ronald Reagan declared a "war on (illegal) drugs" in 1988 A.D. with the creation of a drug czar.
Illegal drugs include marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.
A disproportionate number of users of illegal drugs are minorities. Legalization of illegal drugs, especially marijuana, is a liberal political position.
