An illegal drug is a recreational drug that has been deemed potentially harmful and therefore made illegal by a Government of a country.
Drugs in America
Illegal drugs in America include marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.
Ronald Reagan declared a "war on (illegal) drugs" in 1988 with the creation of a drug czar.

Legalization of illegal drugs, especially marijuana, is a liberal political position. The 2005 National Survey on Drug Use and Health showed that a disproportionate percentage of illegal drug users were minorities. The highest rate was among American Indian/Alaska Natives, followed by persons reporting two or more races, followed by blacks/African Americans.[1]
