Boston College first originated in 1863, and was established by the Society of Jesus. There were twenty-two students enrolled, and three teachers on staff when it opened on September 5, 1864. The University was first located in the South End of Boston, but quickly out grew the space, and moved its location to Chestnut Hill where it first broke ground on June 19, 1909. It now has four campuses; Chestnut Hill, Newton, Brighton and Dover. The University is home to over 14,500 students, and 660 full-time faculties. Boston College was ranked thirty-fifth by US News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2008" for the national universities category.
