Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922) was the inventor of the telephone. Born in Scotland, Bell invented the telephone in 1876 after he immigrated to the United States. He was attempting to invent a device to help the deaf.

The first sentence spoken over the telephone was by Bell to his assistant Watson: "Watson, come here; I want you."

Bell founded AT&T in 1885 to use his invention, a company that has undergone many changes since then but still exists today.
