The minke whale is a whale that lives in most of the world's oceans. It weighs approximately 14 tons and is threatened with extinction. Also known as the Lesser Rorqual it is a marine mammal belonging to the suborder of baleen whales. The minke whale was first identified by Bernard Lacepede in 1804.
