American Standard Version

The American Standard Version is a translation of the Bible first published in published in 1901. Now in the public domain, it has been praised for its truthfulness and called the "Rock of Biblical Honesty."

This translated the English Revised Version of 1881 for an American audience, and was later used for 20th century translations such as the Revised Standard Version and the New American Standard Bible. The American Bible Society in New York City preserves the papers of the American committee in connection with this translation.

This translation does have some critics.
