An alarmist is on who tries to alarm others, especially by ussing exaggerations.
In modern usage, such people can fall under the following categories:
- Bloggers
- Global Warming proponents
- Certain Left-Wing websites
- Nationalist governments which seek to gain the blind trust of the populist by way of inventing threats to national security. See Nazi and 1984.
- Democratic Party
- George Bush for instilling unjustified fear into the public in order to maintain support for his failed policies in iraq and at home.
- Prolife Fools: Idiots who think abortions are killing babies....which I think is a good thing anyway
