Aomori (青森県) is the capital city of the northernmost prefecture on Japan's main island Honshu, named after Aomori Bay (青森湾). The Aomori prefecture is in the Tohoku Region. It came into existence in 1871.
- In 1625, under the instructions of Nobuhira, to create a port, the second Lord of Tsugaru, Yashichiro Moriyama undertook the development of the village of Utomura, located in the district of Sotogahama.
