Eco-terrorism refers to the use of terrorist tactics in order to achieve the political goals of environmentalism, examples of this would be using violence to intimidate governments, businesses or even civilians and force them to support environmental causes.
"It remains what we would probably consider the No. 1 domestic terrorism threat, because they have successfully continued to conduct different types of attacks in and around the country," FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko
Examples of eco-terrorism include attacking, threatening or commit other criminal acts against targets such as whaling ships, animal-testing laboratories, meat-processing facilities, logging camps, etc.
Sometimes eco-terrorist acts damage the environment they pretend to maintain, for example, animals released from facilities into urban settings have been hit by cars or otherwise died.
Eco-terrorism must not be confused with Environmental Terrorism. Since targetting people is not the point, it also should not be confused with Terrorism.
