Tom Cruise (b. 1962) is a Hollywood actor who has appeared in a number of films including Rain Man, Days of Thunder and Top Gun.
Cruise is an outspoken supporter and high ranking member of Scientology and critic of psychiatry.
Tom Cruise was a bit spoiled at times. During the filming of Top Gun, a movie about the Navy Fighter Weapons School, one of the scenes being shot in an F-14 went wrong. After the scene was finished, he took off his sunglasses and flung them on the floor of the fighter as hard as he could. They shattered, and the cockpit of an airplane is a bad place for anything to be loose. A piece of glass could jam the stick, or the ejection seat mechanism. On another occasion, the helicopter that took the actors out to the aircraft carrier to shoot some scenes broke down and could not be used for the return trip. Most of the other actors talked with the crew, signed autographs, and generally were nice about having to stay on the ship overnight, but Tom Cruise was sulky and would not sign any autographs.
