Controversy
Many communist sympathizers claim that the U.S. organized the coup against Allende. Although it is true that the U.S. backed president Pinochet once he got to power, America's involvement has never been proven. From the facts, it looks like the coup was the result of the true anti-Allende sentiment of the Chilean people.
