One union organizer and an unabashed supporter of communism, Hosea Hudson, served as the vice president of the Alabama People's Educational Association. Despite being an "outspoken proponent of communism until the end of his life," the City of Birmingham, Alabama proclaimed Hosea Hudson Day to be February 26, 1980.[1] He was also awarded the honorary key to the city.
