West Side Story is a musical drama based on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Arthur Laurents. The Capulets and Montagues of Shakespeare's classic play are replaced with the Sharks and Jets, rival street gangs[1] in Manhattan.
