(add more) 1.) spanish, french, english 2.) how, completely independently, he mastered the seas, leading to the exploration of a new world. a contemporary accomplishment would possibly be walking across the United States blindfolded without getting hit by a car. 3.)because they had no idea of the conditions of the new world. also the english were not used to working hard, they were the upperclass of their time... they simply starved. or the indians got them 4.) the motivation was for religious purity and serparation from the church of england. puritans differed from main stream pilgrims in that they were not hostile to indians. also, while the pilgrims were very religious, they did not take it to the point of extremes. 5.) William Penn was remarkable not only by being a rebel of his time (a quaker). he had the determination to start a new colony, tolerant to all religions, in pennsylvaina. not only did he found the state, it had the most successful city in philly. 6.) 1. Joint stock company- examples were virginia and mass. bay. 

   2. Charter colony- example were connecticut
   3. proprietary colony- examples were maryland, penn. deleware, and new york.
   4. royal colony- example is virginia, which was eventually taken back by the king.

7.) Q- "why would some want to take credit away from Columbus, and how might they do it?" 

   A-  People, particuarly liberals, want to take credit away from columbus fore most because of his intention to spread Christanity.  ( They are generally not big fans )

Also, he was, you guessed it, a conservative. That is a big no for liberals. All these things could simply be accomplished by removing bits and pieces of his marvelous work overtime from textbooks, only leaving the bare essentials, such as "1492." The only reason they most likely cannot remove that from textbooks is people might actually realize it...

H1) the puritans are an example... problems they might, and did face, were the pressure by surrounding colonies to be more leniant towards other religions. this happened finally when they became a very successful colony, this left the colony with surplus money. they decided ( 3rd gen. puritans ) that they would rather have the money than stick to their religious roots. So, in the right enviorment, anything can thrive... just the world ususally does not want to deviate from "conformity."

H4) mercantilism in a box is basically you limit the amount of imports from countries and maximise the exports from it. generally the mother country ie. england, bought raw materials from the colonies and made cheap goods and england and sold them around the world for a higher price, generating a surplus of money for the mother country.


H5) Debate: "were the Puritans right to be srtict and expel people of other religions?"
