Eusebius (260-340) was the bishop of Caesarea on the coast of Palestine and a Church historian. Although there are many other writings from ancient church times, his Ecclesiastical History is considered to be the principal source for the history of Christianity, especially the Eastern Church, from the Apostolic era until his own day.
