RegCure, developed by ParetoLogic is a popular proprietry system utility for Windows. The software attempts to compact and fix the registry. Such software can be useful in removing obsolete registry keys to improve system performance. However, there is no proof that this software can imporove system performance.
Some users suggest using a combination of registry "cleaners", the rule of thumb being that no one tool can find or fix all discrepancies in the registry, while others may recommend a product based solely on the combination of so-called errors it finds in one scan, rather than realistically analyzing the severity of the "problems" found.
Users are advised to read all Help files before making any changes, and to prevent the possibility of damaging the registry. The program can delete .dll (dynamic-link library) files if not used properly.
The free trial version of the product is available and includes all the features. However, upon the initial system scan, it asks the user to purchase the full product in order to activate the complete functionality. It is restricted so that it can only repair errors found in 6 of the main registry sections, to correct errors in other sections requires registration. Compacting the registry also requires registration.
