Blackburn Rovers F.C. is a British soccer club playing in Blackburn, Lancashire. They are one of four teams to have won an English Premier League title, the others being Arsenal F.C., Chelsea F.C., and Manchester United. Despite this, they have never been well-known in the U.S. The current manager is Sam Allardyce. The team is sponsored by Crown Paints.[1]
History[2]
Blackburn Rovers were one of the founding twelve members of the original Football League that formed in 1875. Before the advent of the Premiership, most of the club's success was in the 1930s and before. During that early time, they had two League Championships and six FA Cups. But since then, local millionaire Jack Walker realized his dream of getting a championship to Blackburn. With the help of superstar striker Alan Shearer, they won in the 1994-95 season. However, when Walker passed on, the team sunk until the leadership of Mark Hughes brought them back to prominence.
