Revision as of 18:18, September 2, 2009
The Today's New International Version is a liberal, feminist revision of the NIV, which was sharply criticized. The TNIV uses unisex, gender-neutral language unsupported by the original manuscripts, and even appeased feminists by omitting reference to Jesus as the unborn child:
- "When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost" (Matt 1:18 KJV)
to:
- "His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit"
Zondervan announced in 2009 its intention to improve the TNIV and discontinue publication of the popular NIV. "We need to undo the damage," Maureen Girkins, president of Zondervan, declared.[1]
