Sid Vicious (real name John Simon Ritchie, 10 May 1957 - 2 February 1979) was the bassist for infamous punk rock band The Sex Pistols. Notorious for his wild persona and "live fast, die young" attitude, he died of a heroin overdose on in February, 1979, while awaiting trial for his girlfriend's murder. His time in the Sex Pistols is documented in the popular 1986 film Sid and Nancy.
