Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Little is known about her life with certainty. Some sources say she died as a virgin Christian martyr in Sicily in the 2nd century while others say she died in Rome in the 3rd century.
One version of her story is known to more modern readers through its inclusion in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Her body is said to have been found completely intact in 1599 when the Church of St. Cecilia was undergoing repairs.
