Michael Ruse (born June 21, 1940 in Birmingham, England) is a philosopher and historian of science at Florida State University. Two of the areas Dr. Ruse focuses on are the creation/evolution controversy and the demarcation problem in science.[1] Michael Ruse authored such books as The Darwinian Revolution. In 1986, Dr. Ruse was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.[2]

Ruse has claimed that Christian and Darwinian beliefs can co-exist. The Christian creation science ministry Creation Ministries International, however, asserts that evolutionary belief is incompatible with Christianity.[3] Dr. Ruse has also been involved in court cases to ban the teaching of creationism and intelligent design in classrooms, and is an ardent atheist.
