Article, as a noun, is a written composition on a specific topic, usually in prose; generally it is forming an independent part of a book or other publication, as a magazine or newspaper.

An article in grammar is a morpheme, such as an adjective or an affix, indicating whether the noun to which it refers identifies a specific, already explicitly or inherently identified, referent (in which case the article is a definite article) or not (an indefinite article). Not all languages use articles. In English, the definite article is the, and the indefinite article is a or an, depending on the phonology of the following word.

In law, an article is a subdivision of a constitution or code.

As a verb: to set forth in articles, or to bind by articles of covenant or stipulation.
