Drinking literally refers to the imbibing of any liquid into the body, but in modern vernacular has come to be associated with the imbibing of alcohol. The Bible speaks out against becoming drunk. There are varying opinions on the acceptability of drinking in general among various religious denominations as long as drunkenness does not occur.
In the United States there are laws against under-aged drinking which vary from state to state. There are also laws against drinking and driving with each state having different rules on how much alcohol can be in the bloodstream and still be acceptable for operating a vehicle. The penalties for drunk driving also vary from state to state.
