-'''Abolition''' is the act of officially revoking an existing institution by legal means, either through making it illegal, or merely not letting it exist in any way or form. The word was used commonly in the [[United States]] during 19th century in the context of slavery. People who wanted to end slavery, campaigned for “abolition” and were labeled “abolitionists”. The word is used in other contexts as well (for example, today some people push for the abolition of [[abortion]]), but that was the most common.
