IEEE 1394 is a high speed serial interface most commonly used for video transfer from a digital camcorder to a computer for editing purposes. The 1995 standard allows transfer rates of 100, 200 or 400 MB/s half-duplex. The standard has changed as this interface has become more common and data rates have increased. IEEE 1394b allows 800MB/s transfer rates.
