The forebrain is the most rostral area of the brain in the central nervous system. It is divided into four sections: the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe and occipital lobe. While many functions are distributed across the brain, these last three areas primarily receive and process information from different parts of the body, whereas the frontal lobe is where most higher mental functions take place.
