Naomi Riley is an affiliate scholar of the Institute of American Values, an author and former blogger for the Chronicle of Higher Education. She has written "two substantive books" on higher education, including The Faculty Lounges: And Other Reasons Why You Won't Get the College Education You Pay For.

After being fired for writing a blog entry that attracted criticism, Riley wrote:

Abraham Miller said the Chronicle fired Riley "for writing a piece at variance with the political correctness it has come to uphold."[1] and thereby "inadvertently gave Riley's exposé on black studies far and away more visibility than it would otherwise have achieved."[1]
