Bennie Thompson is the Democratic party representative from Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House. Thompson was elected to the office on April 13, 1993. Thompson defeated Hayes Dent (R) by 10.4 percentage points in the special election runoff to replace Rep. Mike Espy (D).

Thompson is a member of the communist-dominated Congressional Progressive Caucus and sponsor of the socialist Medicare for All bill.
