Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents, 403 U.S. 388 (1971) was a landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that established the right to sue and recover damages against federal agents acting under color of federal authority and who violate constitutional rights, such as unlawful search in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
