Gruffudd ap Llywelyn ap Iorwerth (c. 1196-1198 - March 1, 1244[1]) was the son of Llywelyn the Great and Tangwystl.

Birth
Guesses have been made to determine his birth year, with most agreeing on 1196–1198, he was an illegitimate son however was entitled to consideration in the succession, which ended in Dafydd ap Llywelyn becoming the ruler.
Imprisonment by Dafydd ap Llywelyn
In 1239, before he was imprisoned by the English, Dafydd ap Llywelyn imprisoned him and his son Owain.
Negotiations with Henry III
In 1241, Gruffudd's spouse Senena tried to negotiate with Henry however he didn't keep his promise and locked up Owain and Gruffudd from 1241 until Gruffudd's death in March 1244.
Death
