<blockquote>Yes, allies spy on each other routinely. Intelligence agencies monitor partners because national interests often diverge, policies change, and a nation's ultimate goal is to independently verify what allies are doing and saying in private.</blockquote>LaMarina (talk) 17:38, June 22, 2026 (EDT)

:Of course, however the term "spying" is rather generic for the Low IQ MSM consumers. Macleaod is talking about a foreign "influence operation" (like User:Conservative's Russia Russia Russia hoax). For discussion purposes we should divide the operation in two parts: a "spying" operation to collect information, and an "influence" operation to pursued opinions and election outcomes. The FARA filing is a disclosure making some of the operation quasi-legal.

:Now the Pentagon counterintelligence alert is [https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/angry-pentagon-sources-leak-report-israels-unhinged-spying-us-officials entirely a different matter. It's not "spying" on citizens, but on government officials presumably with the intent to exert influence. RobS[[User talk:RobSmith|WWJD?
