Ceredigion ('land of Ceredig') is a county of mid Wales, overlooking Cardigan Bay, to which it gives its name (the Anglicised form of the name, no longer used, is Cardiganshire). It is largely rural and hilly. The county town is Aberystwyth; other towns include Cardigan (Welsh: Aberteifi), Aberaeron, New Quay, and the small university town of Lampeter (Welsh: Llanbedr Pont Steffan)
