Lemonade, in the United States, is a sweet beverage composed of sugar, lemon juice, and water. Lemonade is usually served chilled, often over ice and sometimes with a slice of lemon.
In Britain, lemonade is a carbonated lemon or lemon-lime flavored soft drink, which can be clear (e.g. Sprite® or R Whites®) or cloudy (e.g. traditional lemonades). As well as being drunk on its own, this sort of lemonade can be mixed with beer to make a shandy, added to wine and other ingredients to make the Spanish drink sangria, or served as a mixer with spirits.
