A luddite is a person opposed to technological change. The term Luddite carries a connotation of destroying new technology.
First recorded in 1811 it was named for Ned Ludd. The Luddites were originally people opposed to the Industrial Revolution in 19th-century England and who sometimes resorted to violent protests.
