-The attractive little town of Espalion on the River Lot is in the French department of Aveyron. The Pont-Vieux is a lovely red sandstone packhorse bridge that spans the River Lot. The Vieux Palais on the left is a domed and turreted chateau dating from 1572. It is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.
