Awe

Awe is the condition of feeling overwhelmed by or filled with respect, whether one intends to be or not.

People may feel awe when they encounter beauty, witness acts of great heroism or self-sacrifice, or engage in religious contemplation, among others.

Something that causes awe is said to be awesome, which is a term that changed meaning slightly when it made its way into American slang, mostly due to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
