The Hmong are an ethnicity found throughout many parts of Southeast Asia, including Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. There is also a significant population in China, where they are called the Miao. During the Vietnam War, the Americans solicited the assistance of the Hmong fighters. After America pulled out of the country, the Hmong were not provided any significant assistance, and were mercilessly slaughtered by Vietnamese forces.
Many Hmong refugees were resettled in the United States, principally California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
