−	The Lake Wobegon effect is a cognitive bias in which people tend to overestimate their achievements and capabilities relative to those of others. It is named after the fictional town of Lake Wobegon, Minnesota, created by Garrison Keillor, in which all of the children are above average (which, of course, is impossible). As an example, nearly two-thirds of American drivers rate themselves as "excellent" or "very good" drivers. A subset of the Lake Wobegon effect is the Dunning-Kruger effect, in which someone mistakenly believes themselves to have a certain competency precisely because they do not.
