The universe is everything there is in regards to material existence.
Some scientists, particularly atheists, believe that the universe formed approximately 14 billion years ago, and has been expanding at the speed of light ever since, making it about 28 billion light years across. Interestingly, modern scientific ideas about the nature of the universe hypothesize that for any location, it appears that that location is at the center of this expansion.
Young Earth Creationism View
Young earth creationists scientists also believe that the first law of thermodynamics and second law of thermodynamics argue against an eternal universe and they also claim that these laws point to the universe being supernaturally created. [1][2] Young earth creationist scientists also contest the Big Bang Theory stating that it is scientifically unsound. [3] [4][5][6][7]
