I found the below info in the New England Journal of Medicine. I thought you might be interested.
''Current Causes of Death in Children and Adolescents in the United States, New England Journal of Medicine'', Letter to the editor, May 19, 2022, N Engl J Med 2022; 386:1955-1956, DOI: 10.1056/NEJMc2201761: "Although the new data are consistent with other evidence that firearm violence has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic, the reasons for the increase are unclear, and it cannot be assumed that firearm-related mortality will later revert to prepandemic levels."[https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2201761]
Between social isolation and the attendant higher suicidal rate and the post George Floyd higher crime and rioting rates, it would make sense that gun deaths would increase.
The Heritage Foundation gives supplementary data that is helpful in explaining the rise of young people's deaths by guns in their article: [https://www.heritage.org/crime-and-justice/commentary/what-the-media-doesnt-want-you-know-about-2020s-record-murder-spike What the Media Doesn’t Want You To Know About 2020’s Record Murder Spike].
