::No, but I've since read them. And I refuse to belive for a second that this was the result of "mechanical, literal way of thinking." Knowing Netanyahu, he knew exactly what they were planning but deliberately ignored it because he wanted such devastation to be brought upon Israel. That way, it would be easy to rally the people around him as their savior while he wages his agenda unimpeded. Bush and Cheney did the same thing with 9/11, and there's a part of me that suspects FDR did the same thing with Pearl Harbor.--Geopolitician (talk) 11:05, October 14, 2023 (EDT)

:::Nah, FDR did not know about Pearl Harbor. FDR was looking for any excuse to go to war with Germany, not with Japan. D-Day happened before anything remotely resembling an assault on Japan began. But remember that the US did not declare war on Germany until Hitler honored his commitment from Tripartite Pact to declare war on the US. FDR was not stupid, and you would have to be very stupid to rely on Hitler keeping his word. MayGodBless (talk) 00:26, October 17, 2023 (EDT)

::::IMO, I think that's correct. FDR had no advance knowledge neither was part of an advance plot, etc. However, what is undeniable is, there was a generation of Pearl Harbor Truthers who lived through it, and not just partisan Republicans, who believed it so. I spoke with at least 3 of them as late as the 1990s, fifty years after the event, who spoke with more commitment to that belief than any JFK assassination truther I ever met.

::::One guy, who was there, told me that the Saturday night before was declared open liberty, the gates were flung open (which never previously occurred), no guards, and everybody was drunk and hung over by 7:00 AM when the attack came.
