:::::I am just putting in the FACTS. Did the inspectors FINALLY leave because Hussein kicked them out? No, it was because of the bombing. Did he offer to step down. Yes. Revision as of 17:20, February 11, 2008
This page is obviously way too short for the amount of history this country has. Nothing of former rulers and historical events have been mentioned, making this a non-useful article for general knowledge/research purposes.--Atomicwaist 21:47, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Moved stub to bottom.--Atomicwaist 12:27, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
For sure, Iraq just exists since its invasion by the USA in 2003... If I remember well my lessons, this land has seen much more history than lots of others. Isn't it the place were the first civilizations appeared. Oups, this is not believeable...
If you want to expand on this, go ahead. Iraq is the elephant in the livingroom of the current political landscape, so I'm not surprised nobody wants to touch this listing. --Sandbagger 16:24, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
Line Breaks?
What is with the no line breaks? One paragraph makes this entry look very poor. Paulwasasaint 17:11, 14 March 2007 (EDT)
Edit conflict!
That wasnt vandalism from me -- the page took so long to load, it had been undone by the time I undid it :( if u see what i mean File:User Fox.png Fox (talk|contribs) 06:12, 3 June 2007 (EDT) I won't attempt to undo it again, as the same thing may happen. I'll leave it for a sysop who has rollback. File:User Fox.png Fox (talk|contribs) 06:15, 3 June 2007 (EDT)
Failed State Index
Source reads, "third annual Failed States Index"; now beg pardon, this appears from its name to be a concocted "survey" for aiming at a politcal impact. The Fund for Peace, Morton Halperin, the VVAW, World Peace Council probably doesn't really add up to a qualified source we wish to rely. RobS 17:11, 18 June 2007 (EDT)
Possibly, but this was reported on CNN and Yahoo. Rather than delete it, maybe you could find some sites that refute it. Maestro 21:13, 18 June 2007 (EDT)
- I don't wish to say blanketly the source, Fund for Peace, is a left-wing commie front organization, because I believe it does do some good work in some parts of the world. But it would not be a fair assessment to say this organization is non-partisan, and this particular survey, given this particular name, at this particular juncture in history, IMHO, was created for exactly a partisan prejudicial purpose. "Democratic Iraq"
As the section in question was about the war and its aftermath, and mentions nothing about democracy in Iraq, I have changed the heading. EnFrancaisSVP 21:17, 18 June 2007 (EDT)
Factual Errors
I have corrected two straightforward factual errors in this page: 1) Hussein did not "throw UNSCOM out." It left in advance of the Clinton/Blair bombing campaign. 2) Hussein did not "refuse to step down." He attempted to negotiate this, but Bush ignored him.
Both of these facts can easily be confirmed by Googling them.
But I bet it will still be less than 24 hours before someone puts the lies back in the article.

- It's been less than 24 hours, and the truth was put back in. Karajou 14:22, 24 January 2008 (EST)
- Amazing! You're acknowledging that in your eyes Conservapedia is purely a propaganda tool with no interest in the facts. As I said, both the fact that Saddam did not "throw UNSCOM out" and that he offered to step down are easily verified stories that can be found in major news outlets. But I guess maintaining your delusions are more important than the truth, hey?
- Here's documentation:
- "Richard Butler, chief UN weapons inspector, US Ambassador to the UN Peter Burleigh informed him that the US was about to bomb Iraq and advised him to remove the inspectors. Without even informing the UN Security Council, Butler 'told him that I would act on this advice and remove my staff from Iraq.'"

- Here are 8,360 sources documenting that Hussein offered to step down:

- Well?
- NickDanger 20:29, 24 January 2008 (EST)
- You are reducing it to ONE occassion of the removal of weapons inspectors when that happened several more times, and you are spinning it yourself when ignoring the fact that Saddam was a mass-murdering megalomaniac who caused two major wars with four individual countries. You are twisting the article by trying to pin blame for the Iraq war solely on Bush when he instead forced Saddam and the U.N. to live up to U.N. security resolutions. I saw first-hand Saddam's people violating those resolutions, so don't start accusing me of being "deluded". Karajou 10:09, 25 January 2008 (EST)
- "You are reducing it to ONE occassion of the removal of weapons inspectors when that happened several more times..."
- Documentation, please! I believe the inspectors never returned after the time I documented.
- "you are spinning it yourself when ignoring the fact that Saddam was a mass-murdering megalomaniac who caused two major wars with four individual countries."
- What in the world does that have to do with whether or not he kicked the inspectors out?
- "You are twisting the article by trying to pin blame for the Iraq war solely on Bush when he instead forced Saddam and the U.N. to live up to U.N. security resolutions."
