An aphorism is a concise statement of an insight or truth, usually having a practical or political significance.
Jesus' aphorisms are some of the most beloved and highly revered in history. Christians and non-Christians alike see the wisdom in them.
- "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." Luke 6:31
- "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36
- "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
