The name Phorcys occurs twice in Greek mythology.
The first was a sea-god, the son of Pontus and Gaia. He is the father of the Hesperides, the nymphs Thoosa and Scylla, as well as various monsters such as the Graeae, the Gorgons (whom he fathered with his siter-wife Ceto), and the dragon Ladon. The Cyclops Polyphemus was his grandson.
Phorcys was also a leader of the Phrygians during the Trojan War. He was killed by Ajax. [1]
