General Santa Ana's 3,000 Mexicans attacked 189 Texans at San Antonio on February 24, 1836.  Within 13 days, nearly all the Texans were dead, including Davy Crockett, William Travis and Jim Bowie. The only ones who survived were Susanna Dickenson, her baby, and Travis' [[slave]].  The massacre at the Alamo was memorialized in the cry, "Remember the Alamo!"
